Shoton Festival

Shoton Festival is one of the most popular traditional festivals in Tibet. During the period, some Tibetan arts will be performed and exhibited, including Tibetan operas, Buddha paintings, wonderful yak race, horsemanship display and so on.

Generally speaking, the Shoton Festival comes on the last days of sixth month of Tibetan calendar and falls on the later August of Gregorian calendar. Travelling to Tibet on the time is very comfortable thanks to good weather, yet August is also the very peak season in the Tibet tourism.

The days when the festival is holding are right at this peak season, and there will be definitely no hotel, guide or vehicle left available if late booking. If you decide to join in this cultural festival feast on the roof of the world, we suggest you book a tour with us as early as possible.

Specially recommending: 4 days Tibet Impression Tour & 5 Days Lhasa and Namtso Lake Tour.
