Beijing Nightlife in Westerners Mind

What’s in your mind about Beijing nighlife? Dull as the people are:

  • Busy with preparing family dinner and cleaning up after work?
  • Tucked themselves into bed under a blanket shortly after nightfall?
  • Spend a lot of time with spouse and kids, but not for party?
  • Love to use coupons and all being the thrifty people, not for the Babylons?
  • Less developed for the nightlife arenas?

If you think in these ways as I did, you are all wet. Because that was the Beijing 20 years ago!

I would not believe unless I see and experience for myself. But, nowadays, you will always find places to spend your evenings if you are not tired after the day’s sightseeing. From grunge to cocktail, jazz to lounge bars Beijing has everything – even a bus bar! There are bars of all shapes and sizes, some hidden in old pagodas, some high up in tall buildings, some simply a room with a pump.

The rise of the London-style gastropub has taken Beijing by storm providing homesick visitors with the ideal-place to gobble-down a quick sandwich and sneaky pint while watching the city slide by.

Spend a beery night filling your belly with budget booze around Sanlitun, try one of the posher pubs and sleazy cocktail dens around the Chaoyang park area or sip a sophisticated drink to the sweet sounds of a Beijing diva alongside the lantern-lit beauty of Houhai.

Whatever your poison, and whatever your budget, Beijing should be able to accommodate you – sit back and let the good times roll!

Besides the beers and bars, sport clubs are also a good chioce for killing your time and working out. However, drinking, dancing and sporting are not the main stream of them, but eating out does. In Beijing and China, eating means not just for filling the belly, but kind of social activity. The most fun I have got from the Chinese dinner are: sitting around the round table, chatting with each other, sharing the foods, and enjoying the Tsingtao beer.

You will never miss the night of Beijing, and must take a Beijing night tour.
