Chinese traditional Peking Opera and acupuncture have been included in the candidates list of this year’s “Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity,” the U. N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced on Wednesday.

This year, 47 heritages from 29 countries were listed in as candidates, which include Belgium’s Ulster carnival, Chinese Peking Opera and acupuncture of Chinese traditional medicine, Spanish flamenco and so on.

Since then, the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which already included 166 heritages from 77 countries, will be enlarged further.

In addition, China’s wood movable type, the production process of sailing watertight bulkheads, Uyghur Maxrap and a kind of singing from Croatia have been listed among the candidates for UNESCO’s “Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.”

The Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage will hold a meeting to decide whether they will be included in the list in Kenyan capital Nairobi from Jan. 15 to Jan. 19.
