Indian Prime Minister Modi starts his China Tour from Xian
News: On May 14, Chinese President Xi welcomed Indian Prime Minister Modi in Xian, where Xi’s hometown is. After their meeting, Xi accompanied Modi to visit the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, the Da Ci’en Temple, the Wild Goose Pagoda. After the visit, Modi was accorded traditional Tang Dynasty welcome at the Xian Ancient Wall and Xi welcomed him at the watchtower of the Wall. In the evening, Xi and Modi had the featured dinner on the Wall.
Terracotta Warriors and Horses
The Terracotta Warriors and Horses are the most significant archaeological excavations of the 20th century. It is 40km away from Xian downtown. The museum covers an area of 16,300 square meters, divided into three sections: No.1 Pit, No.2 Pit and No.3 Pit. Yesterday morning, Modi firstly visited the No.1 Pit and No.3 Pit of the museum, and wrote “The Terracotta Army is a heritage of the world. It is a testimony to China’s civilizational achievement.” on the visitor’s book.
Da Ci’en Temple
The Da Ci’en Temple has witnessed a long history of friendly exchanges between China and India, vowing to push forward the friendly ties between the two countries. Modi was deeply impressed by the Xian tour and presented saplings of Bodhi tree to the temple.
Wild Goose Pagoda
The Wild Goose Pagoda is the place where the famous Chinese Buddhist monk Xuan Zang presided over the translation of Buddhist scriptures and expounded Buddhist doctrines in the Tang Dynasty.
Xian ancient City Wall
Finally, Modi went to the Xian ancient city wall and enjoyed the traditional Tang Dynasty, accompanied by President Xi. After visiting, both of them had the featured dinner on the Wall.
