Palace Museum to limit visitor volume by 80,000 daily
News: The Palace Museum Beijing, also known as the Forbidden City in Beijing, will launch a pilot scheme to limit the daily visitor volume by 80,000 from June 13, according to the museum’s announcement recently.
The Palace Museum, a renowned world cultural heritage with a history extending 600 years, received more than 10 million average annual in recent years. The latest statistics shows that during last three years, the museum’s annual average visitor number have exceeded 15 million. Traveller’s enthusiasm has caused great pressure to the service standard and safety control, and so such visitor volume will bring slight damage to this cultural heritage.
In order to protect the security of both the cultural relics and tourists, visitor number need to be controlled, said the director of the Palace Museum. Meanwhile, currently the museum will update the ticket reservation system, so as to make it more convenient to book tickets, which can also guide the visitors to avoid their travelling during the peak seasons and busy time in a day.
