On that day of Monday, the fund has received initial donation of 18 million yuan ( 2.93 million dollars ) from a number of businesses and institutions. A committee was set up to manage the money. All the money will be used to protect the body of Great Wall.

Since 1984, the late leader Deng Xiaoping declared “Lover our China, and repair our Great Wall”, and now is the 30th anniversary. In 1987, China Great Wall was added to the UNESCO world heritage list.

The Great Wall, one of the greatest wonders of the world, looks like a gigantic dragon. It winds up and down across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus, stretching about 8,851.8km from east to west of China. With a history of more than 2000 years, some of the sections are now in ruins or have disappeared. However, it is still one of the most appealing attractions all around the world.
